On October 18th 2009 I ran my 1st ever Half Marathon; the Cardiff Half Marathon in memory of my Dad, John Armour. I was puffed in by a good friend, Martin Gibbs, who's a very good runner and he did the Cardiff Half Marathon last year. My dad died from Cancer, Mesothelioma, in 2000 and I have a website dedicated to his memory - www.formydad.co.uk I have raised nearly £15,000 for Cancer Research UK through Triathlons but I have not competed since 2006.
I have never been a runner and in fact the longest run I had ever done was 5 miles. The triathlons I've done were only Sprint events where the run leg is just 5K and my 5K time in 2006 was 34mins! Martin had always been a club runner but never really ran for charity. But having done the Cardiff Half Marathon he was so affected by the positive vibes and stories of all the cancer sufferers he met on the day that he has pledged his support for Cancer Research UK in memory of my dad and will be raising money for the cause!! He and I together, but via seperate fundraising pages are aiming to raise over £10,000 for Cancer Research UK in 2010!!
Races for 2010 Our next run will be the Bath Half Marathon on 7th March 2010!
I'll continue to update this page with other races as we enter them.
Martin's fundraising page is at http://www.runningsponsorme.org/mandbThanks Gibby!Raising some more money for Cancer Research UK in memory of my Dad, to help prevent others from having to suffer like he did, definitely makes this a worthwhile challenge!! Please help by supporting us both.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cancer Research UK gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Thank you so much for your support.
