Thanks for visiting our fundraising page!
This year we are running the Great North Run in aid of Cancer Research UK - each team member has their own reasons for supporting the charity: Nell McAndrew is Cancer Research UK's Running Ambassador: "The work that Cancer Research UK does is amazing and when my dad was diagnosed with T-Cell Non Hodgkins Lymphoma, they were the organisation my family and I turned to for information. My dad was given a 50/50 chance of survival and after having a large tumour removed and undergoing a course of chemotherapy, he is now thankfully in remission. The support the charity gets, will enable them to research more effective treatments, to hopefully keep the survival rate of cancer on the increase and eventually find a cure for all cancers. Thank you for sponsoring our team." Actor John Altman is running for Cancer Research UK: "Cancer has affected a fair number of people who are near and dear to me and I want to do everything I can to prevent such a disease happening to others – especially young children. This is something that I care passionately about so please help to sponsor me generously." Noorul Choudhury, a contestant on this year's " The Apprentice", is taking part in his first Great North Run: " I am passionate about supporting Cancer Research UK. Cancer affects 1 in 3 people at some point in their lifetime. The effects the disease has on patients and their loved ones can be devastating, and I sadly lost my partner to cancer in 2005. However treatments are always improving. Funds raised from events like the Great North Run helps make sure Cancer Research UK's scientists, doctors and nurses are able to continue their vital research into the prevention, treatment and cure of all types of cancer. Please sponsor our team whatever you can, every bit really does help make a difference." Sky News weather presenter Isobel Lang is taking part in her fourth Great North Run. She is running the event with her husband Chris and friend Sue: "The Great North Run is a fantastic event and I'm proud to be supporting Cancer Research UK. Everyone has a reason to run - my father is cancer survivor having succesfully fought throat cancer a few years ago. My running partner Sue very sadly lost her father to bowel cancer last year. Cancer Research UK is a charity that is therefore extremely close to our hearts, so please take a moment to sponsor us and help beat cancer " Celebrity Trainer Jon Trevor is taking part in his 4th Great North Run: "I'm really looking forward to the challenge of the Great North Run again and I'm especially excited to support Cancer Research UK this year. I really hope you can donate in support of this amazing cause. Sadly cancer is something that touches many lives and like many others, my family has experienced the devastating effects of this disease, which is why it's so important for me to help the fundraising for Cancer Research UK, please give your support and together we can help beat cancer." Jay Aston of Bucks Fizz is running in support of Cancer Research UK: "I am running in support of three charities, Headfirst which supports those who suffer head injuries. My fellow band mate Mike Nolan was severally injured in a coach crash in 1984 whilst we were on tour and suffered a major head injury. I lost most of my mothers family and my mum to Cancer and my father has advanced Alzheimer's, so this is also a charity I am supporting. These diseases should be curable in the near future, think of the future and give from your heart." NB all funds raised from this site will go towards Cancer Research UK only. Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure.
