Our personal message:

Thank you for visiting Karl Connor's fundraising page!

Barclays Bank Plc have now matched the first £750 of my fundraising which is amazing.  Big thanks to Barclays.  I am glad to have raised some money for Cancer Research.  Thanks to all those that have sponsored me.

I have done the following runs this year and am setting up a new site for sponsorship for next year.  With a training partner at Barclays, I am able to double the first £750, £ (pound) for £ (pound) which is fantastic so give as much as you can.  Here are some of the runs I have done so far:

The Silverstone Half Marathon - March 9th 2008 - 1 h 45 Minutes
The Stratford Half Marathon - 27th April 2008 - 1 h 43 Minutes
The Puma Garburn Trail Race (24 km) - 31st May 2008 - 2 h 20 Minutes
The Anglesey Marathon - 22nd Sept 2008 - 3h 39 Minutes

The ING New York Marathon - November 2nd 2008
- 3h 38 Minutes
The Liverpool Half Marathon - March 2009
The London Marathon - April 2009 - Got my Place now!

Check out my training progress on my blog @ http://www.fitsense.co.uk/blog/?cat=3 .

I've always wanted to do the New York Marathon but put if off because of the cost.  This year however my view changed.  In the last 2 years I have lost a very good friend the same age as me, my Mum has had Cancer, undergone surgery and has not long had the all clear treatment, a close family friend also died recently after a long battle and another friend's Mum has been given only a few months to live.  This puts life into perspective and putting things off until tomorrow is now not something I will be doing.

Although the outcome for most of the people I have mentioned above was or is a very sad one, in the case of my Mum, the cancer was caught early and removed and the outlook for her is very positive.  If it wasn't for the work that Cancer Research UK does I don't believe my Mum's illness would have been spotted as early as it was as she was not ill in any way and had no symptoms.

To help Cancer Research save many more lives please dig deep and sponsor me online.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cancer Research UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support!

Karl
