Thank you *so* much for visiting my fundraising page. I chose Cancer Research UK as my charity as it works to help fight a disease that around 28 million people globally suffer from today, and many millions more are affected by association... for my own part I lost my father in law to cancer far too early in my married life. I want to race and raise funds in memory of him. More recently I have had a close family friend fighting breast cancer, and a cousin battling Hodgkin's Lymphoma. A fishin' buddy of mine is also currently taking all that radiotherapy throws at him with typical stoicism. I want to race and fundraise in celebration of them all. So - why the London Triathlon? Well... it's a heck of a challenge for a chap like me to rise to - 1500m swim / 40Km bike / 10Km run, which is about as lengthy an endurance event as a marathon, and I figured that in itself might provoke a few more people to sponsor me and raise more money for a good cause! (The photograph taken of me in a "mankini" at a weight approaching 300lbs in July 2009 had nothing to do with motivating me...). Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cancer Research UK gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now! Huge thanks, the fatboy formerly known as "Big Kev" :)
