On October 18th 2009 I ran the Cardiff Half Marathon with my mate Dickie Armour, who was running his first ever Half Marathon in memory of his Dad, John Armour. I managed to finally puff Dickie into the race and I'm so proud of what he achieved in Cardiff. His dad died from Cancer, Mesothelioma, in 2000 and Dickie has a website dedicated to his memory - www.formydad.co.uk
He's raised nearly £15,000 for Cancer Research UK through Triathlons and now running. I had always been a club runner but never really ran for charity. But having done the Cardiff Half Marathon I was so affected by the positive vibes and stories of all the cancer sufferers I met on the day that I have pledged my support for Cancer Research UK in memory of Dickie's dad and will be raising money for the cause!! Dickie and I together, but via seperate fundraising pages are aiming to raise over £10,000 for Cancer Research UK in 2010!!
Races in 2010 We are running the Bath Half Marathon on 7th March 2010
I'll post other races here as we enter them.
Dickie's fundraising page is at http://www.runningsponsorme.org/formydadPlease help by supporting us both.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cancer Research UK gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Thank you so much for your support.
