Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. More than 1 in 3 people will develop some form of cancer during their lifetime. I’m yet to meet someone who has not been affected in one way or another; whether that is family, friends or themselves. In 2006, my Aunt Linda was diagnosed with breast cancer. “I’m not a big drinker, I have never smoked and I am a fitness freak, yet I am the one out of my sisters who get’s cancer” she joked. My aunt wasn’t going to lie down and accept this. She fought the cancer and was given the all clear. However, at the end of 2008 I found out that my aunt now has secondary cancer and is currently in the process of receiving treatment. I have never wanted to run a marathon; a half-marathon was far enough thank you! But, while on the way home from the club, slightly intoxicated, I decided that I would run Edinburgh Marathon for Cancer Research dedicated to my Aunt Linda. Probably not the wisest time to make a decision, but I wasn’t going to back out now. Although the main person who I am running the Edinburgh Marathon for will be my aunt, the other members of my family who I have unfortunately lost to cancer will also be on my mind. So in remembrance, I dedicate the run to them too: · Carol, my little sister · Grandad · Grandma · Uncle Russell If you fancy keeping an eye on how I get in with my training in the run up to the event, then you can via my blog. Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cancer Research gets your money faster and, if you’re a taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me and help me reach my target of £1,000. Thank You Mike (aka Scottie)
